About this deal

Among all the audio brands in the market, the Sennheiser is one of the most esteemed brands. They have been producing very nice and quality headphones for quite some time and their headphones have met the needs of audiophiles in a great way. Recently they have released two different models of headphones which are Sennheiser HD6XX and Sennheiser HD650. These headphones are all mids. I feel like the entire section is highlighted. It's present from the very first use. Something about this sounds speaker-like too, like it's similar to speakers, not a "headphone sound". This is a pro and a con IMO. It's good because it's more familiar and what I am used to in my mind, but also bad because it feels a bit off from other headphones I have experience with. Compared to my previous headphone though, DT880 250ohms, it sounds a mix of way more lively, aggressive, and “correct”. On the headband there is a foam padding, which prevents pressure pain as far as possible and allows wearing the headphones for a long time. If you use the HD6XX with mobiles, you may not get the sound you want. So, it’s a better idea if you keep using it with your desktops and laptops only, which can bring in the great audio output. Sound System and Quality Introduction The Fragrant Zither (still can’t get used to this over-the-top name hidden behind its simple acronym) burst out of

There are more examples, of course, but at the end of the day there is very little to argue in favour of the HD8XX’s tonal balance. It has the Hifiman centre-mid dip taken to an almost caricatural level that I’ve never heard in another headphone before, so while meaner fellows like I would brand the HD8XX as a terrible, no-good, very-bad headphone, the nicer amongst you may perhaps call it “unique-sounding”.

Frequently asked questions about the Drop x Sennheiser HD 6xx

Upon first use on my head, the clamping pressure is too much for me to handle. It was the same with the HD650, my HD600, my HD580 and even my older favorite the HD485. Time is your friend, let it breathe and stretch on some books or a headphone stand that is wide.

Quality, again, depends on the rig and amp to scale up. If you are using a lower end system, my HD58x Jubilee sounds subjectively a little cleaner than the HD6xx. However, that changes when I use an expensive amplifier and DAC, where the HD6xx moves out ahead in quality. The HD6xx sounds polite, hyper smooth and of a more dense tonality in terms of physical weight carried. he pretty much dislikes every earphone/headphone that can authentically reproduce the sound of instruments. The set creaks a little too much for comfort, but that was again an issue on my Massdrop HD6xx that stopped almost entirely after a few hundred hours of usage. The same will happen with this HD58x. The HD6XX can easily provide a pleasing audio experience as it offers a nice mixture of an amazing and warm sonic quality and near clinical dedication to the originally rendered recording. And all these have made this signature dynamic-driven headphone the best of both the mentioned worlds.

Put mine in a Porto Pro headset and installed some Yaxi pads. Used a bunch EQ presets, that all kind of sound the same (SoundSource on the Mac). Used and Schiit IEMagni desktop rig. The value and price to performance on this headphone are beyond absurdly great. One quality I did notice was that the HD58x Jubilee at 150ohm fairs much better at low listening levels than the HD6xx at 300ohm, which obviously requires more power to get a nicer experience from. The latter is very soft, so lower listening levels mutes the top end a bit too much, whereas the HD58x still retains good treble quantity at lower listening volumes.

All in all , despite of the cheap price . 6xx is at most a mediocre headphones. I would not recommend this at all . In these formative days of headphone audiophilea I recall being at a meet in College Park, MD where there were a number of HD600s and HD650s. We were auditioning cables by Cardas, Stefan AudioArt and other DIY concoctions including pure silver cables. It was amazing what a difference the cable could make to the signature. What I’ve said in my initial impressions still hold true now; yes, the changes made to the HD8XX does cut the treble peakiness of the HD800/S significantly, but introduces a slew of other even more troubling issues that completely overshadow that fix. Again, seems analogous to cutting off an entire limb in response to being asked to lose weight.

After listening to one slow ambient song, that usually felt ominous and intense as the plodding bass increased in energy feel pleasant and mild, that sealed the fate of the HD6xx as being labeled unengaging by me. It’s easy to regard the HD 6XX’s sound signature as just another dynamic-driven headphone, bringing with it traits that often have audiophiles drawing lines in the sand between those who love a drop of pleasing warmth in their sonic coffee, and those who demand near-clinical dedication to the recording as it was originally rendered. However, what is so pleasing about the HD 6XX (and the 650 before them) is that these headphones offer a pleasant mixture of each, for a best-of-both-worlds scenario. Bill Roberson/Digital Trends

The Sennheiser HD650 has a very good sound quality as the sound distortion is very low. Though a little high-frequency coloration might occur, it is not that much to care about. The bass sound is really warm and good and the details of the sounds can listen in an exceptional manner. I always wondered what the upper limits in sound quality can be achieved with this design. You take a much superior driver and then you tune it for the job at hand. I bet it could be truly glorious. I imagine a super fast and punchy alive sound with great holographic imaging. Not the deepest stage but within that space everything is 3D.I dont understand the full story of crowdsourcing and how it applies to this headphone but ill explain what i do understand. My usual thanks to all my current supporters and shoutouts to my big money boys: HD6XX for music production.HD6XX has very good resolution for its price segment and portrays instruments in the mix with good realism. I’ve used quite a few headphones in my career as a music professional but have always felt confident having a Sennheiser HD600 series headphone around in the past when working on guitar, bass or drum tones because of how naturally and realistically HD600 series headphones are able to recreate the image, tonality and timbre of the instruments with good resolution. HD6XX is no different in this regard and I found myself using the HD6XX more and more for my production work than others. HD6XX isn’t a headphone that boosts treble like crazy for detail retrieval but in fact does it with technical capability and tuning while maintaining a warm and easy sound signature that helps in keeping long production hours and listening sessions fatigue free. In terms of literal fidelity and purity, the HD58x Jubilee fairs extremely well. In fact, for the price, maybe two or three other headphones exist on the market that are just as nice or can be with sufficient amplifier and DAC quality.
