About this deal

Both where bought as new less than a year ago and only used 3 times, both at the same time. High hatch rate success. Reptile incubators are a bit like mini-fridges, however, they have a heated interior instead of a cooled one. As reptile eggs are developing they must be kept at a constant temperature, normally provided by a nest and their parent’s body heat in the wild. Reptile incubators can be set to any temperature to house whatever eggs you need to incubate. Why should I buy reptile incubators?

I used vermiculite (spelling?!) and plastic tubs with air holes, and the vermicultie then holds water, so it held humidity that way, occationally dampening the substrate to keep it at the right levels. The roomy 25 litres of space makes the Herp Nursery big enough for most users and the transparent door allows for monitoring of the eggs or animals inside. I have never put water in the bottom of it but as I never had the instructions so can't comment on those.

If you love snakes and are thinking about bringing the next generation of your favourite reptiles into this world then that can be great.Generally it should be considered to what the breeding temperature recommendations relate, because the temperature inside the breeding substrate will always be lower than the breeding rooms temperature. Consequently, if the temperature recommendation refers to the temperature of the substrate, the device has to be set to a higher temperature. We recommend to always monitoring the temperature with a separate thermometer since every incubator will show temperature variations in the breeding room, which have an impact on the temperature of the breeding substrate. Due to its construction, the Herp Nursery II has a temperature variation from the bottom (lowest) to the top (highest) of about 4°C. With 32°C in the upper area you‘ll get about 28°C in the lower area. This effect can be used to breed different species or to selectively breed for a certain sex. With Greek Tortoises for example, you can expect more females at approx. 32°C and more males The Herp Nursery II prevents the loss of eggs from overheating as it will automatically cool to keep the set temperature. Please note that due to the used technology the device has a certain temperature deviation. It is not a professional incubator which will keep the set temperature by the 0,1C but an entry model for less delicate eggs. If you are looking to raise baby reptiles, the only way is with a reptile incubator. While a parent reptile can warm its eggs in captivity, there is a much higher chance that the development of the eggs will fail. Reptile incubators help eggs to develop as fast and as fully as possible. What are the main types of reptile incubators?
