About this deal

There were many things I enjoyed about it, but I felt like by the end I was still wanting more. I wish I could’ve learned more about Sophie and the events that occurred after the ending. But that’s also a good thing because the author made the characters feel extremely real and the story was plotted well.

A little later it moves on to when Naomi is an adult and buys a beautiful house in the middle of nowhere that she is doing up. She also finds a love interest and a sweet dog! I loved Tag the dog :-) The subtly sinister cover of this book makes me squirm almost as much as the inisidious Charles Arrowby in the novel, who leaves his world of London theatre for a house by the sea.

How to Vote

Oh, if you didn't realized - Naomi is cool, because she was raised by gays and one of them isn't even white! I figured out who the killer was during the beginning of the book. I think it was the beginning.... not far into it at any rate. Well, I had my thoughts of who it was and I was right. I just wonder why it took them so long to try to find her. I think I know but I won't say. Lol Delilah's boyfriend. The title slipped out as easily as an eel wriggling out of a fisherman's grip. So natural, the way it rolled off my tongue."

This story is very fast paced to the point where I initially read past hints about a certain plot point. And I call it a plot point because not much was done with it and it wasn't enough to drive the story. But at the same time it was hard to get through Logan's chapters. Delilah was better developed and her chapters were stronger but I wasn't enthralled. I wish it would've gone darker and deeper. I really enjoyed this book! I would compare this to You (YA version) it kept me interested the whole time. This book made me uncomfortable in the best way. You know that feeling when you’re so horrified by a thriller but you just can’t put it down? Yeah I got that a lot with this book. As well as being cheesy he is also horrible at comparisons, worse than me actually, and I literally make up comparisons out of my ass. These parts are the healing, coming out from a cocoon, parts, where she learns again that she’s worth love and friendship, where she stars opening herself to others. she had a sign in cursive that said Good Vibes Only- which, okay, kind of basic, but I supposed no one was perfect-It’s heart pounding, exciting, fast pacing, riveting one sit read with two very disturbed and batshit crazy narrators!

I really enjoyed the writing style, as well. It was comfortable, easy to read and engaging. The author does a good job of "showing" instead of telling throughout her personal experience but reverts to a journalistic style of writing, which I greatly appreciated. She's not claiming to be the subject matter expert, but is sharing her findings in her quest for knowledge. Nora Roberts' books and I have a long and varied history. The first thing of hers I ever read was Carolina Moon (still a favorite), and there have been many other favorites along the way. There've been just as many meh and do-not-like's as well, though. Naomi Bowes lost her innocence the night she followed her father into the woods. In freeing the girl trapped in the root cellar, Naomi revealed the horrible extent of her father’s crimes and made him infamous. No matter how close she gets to happiness, she can’t outrun the sins of Thomas David Bowes. It turns into a game of cat and mouse or more like python and a mouse (if you read the book, you'll get this). All in all, without more spoilers, it is one of the great books to read about obsessions and delusions. None of the parties is 100% innocent but one is slightly better than other and you hope that it wins. Another peeve..........I felt as if I had read this plot before........somewhere!!! It felt old story again!!!I didn’t mind the slow pace, the descriptions of the house, of the forest, of the sunrises and sunsets – I loved them! I wasn’t a huge fan of the abrupt ending but I do understand why it was done. I’m obviously gonna “patiently” wait for the second book. One thing I had learned about predators is that there can only be one around ... I was a bit of a natural when it came to killing predators. That I was the snake after all. And maybe, just maybe, I liked it a little." Hey I finally read a Nora Roberts book!!! It was about time and I enjoyed this quite a lot! I'm not sure what I was expecting exactly, but based on the cover I thought The Obsession would be more a fast paced thriller. It's definitely not that. Instead, this is a surprisingly cozy and domestic slow burn romance that also includes...serial killers? Yep, serial killers! Who knew you could have a cozy serial killer book?

A long and boring story about a house renovation ( look, for that there's "House Rules"... of which I'm fan), with a lukewarm romance _ the number of stereotypes in which the guy falls into is ridiculous _ and almost no suspense (with the exception of the beginning of the story), in a supposed thriller. Closure: This ended really abruptly with what I would call a HFN ending the H says they're going to get married. I had a lot of unanswered questions and I think a glimpse into their future would've been really nice...some kind of epilogue!! I tried.....I really did try to hold out until part two of this book. Out of the duo first person POV for Logan and Delilah, I became bored and annoyed by Delilah's character almost the entire time and just had so many issues with her which is strange when I should've been having it with Logan who's your typical stalker; but it was Delilah from the start. Not only that, but I had some issues with dialogue/first person POV thoughts. Frat parties are basically a cesspool of horny guys drunk on privilege and booze trying to get girls dead-drunk so they can take advantage of them. I mean, sure, that’s a stereotype, and I’m sure some frat parties are nice and some frat guys respect women or whatever, but this guy is asking a high school girl to come on her own to a place where she’ll be completely surrounded by his friends. I don’t think you should go. Not without a shitload of pepper spray and a couple of Tasers.” All stalking is obsessive and entitled but the motivations and behaviour behind stalking can be very different. Madigan provides statistics and anecdotal examples to support her investigation. She discusses the five types of stalker: The Rejected Stalker (often after the breakdown of a relationship); The Intimacy Seeker (who longs for a relationship; this is entangled with erotomania – the delusional belief that another person, usually of a higher social status, is in love with them ie the celebrity stalker); The Resentful Stalker (seeking revenge or retribution); The Incompetent Suitor (seeking short-term gratification spawned by loneliness or lust); and finally The Predator (less common but a more serious risk – the deadly and chilling attention of a stranger). She deconstructs how all of these perpetrators impact or restrict someone’s life in so many ways.I cannot even tell you how many Nora Roberts books I have read in my life I've been following her for so many years. It seems like every single one is engrossing and better than the next. Overall Pace of Story: My biggest issue with the book. It was all over the place! It had a fast paced start that grabbed me, then it seemed to slam on the breaks for about 3/5ths of the book, then for the last 5th it was in fast-forward with a suspense aspect and an abrupt ending. You come to truly care about young Naomi, who has grown into a woman still trying to outrun her nightmares, literally. Seventeen years have passed and Naomi has a career as a successful photographer, however, she lives her life without putting down roots, traveling frequently and never staying in one place for long. Then she visits Sunrise Cove, Washington, where she impulsively buys a huge old rambling former B&B on a bluff. An unsettling and compelling literary thriller, set in the world of writing and bookselling by the bestselling author of The Dinner. While the first put me in killer mode, where I wanted to torture her father to death (a very slow one, though!), the next parts were beautiful!
