About this deal

Suitable particularly for glass demijohns and can be used in larger fermenting vessels such as our 25L vessel but is a little awkward to get the cable in/out. Please note that if an airtight fit is required with a fermenting vessel, a suitable hole for the bored 1 gallon bung would need to be drilled. Space-Saving: The heat belt heater is a small, compact device that takes up very little space, making it ideal for small brewing setups.

Better Brew™ Heat Belt

The TopBrewing™ heat belt is safe for use in the UK and is double insulated, it is supplied with a UK plug and has a CE mark and meets all UK regulations The heat belt heater is designed to provide a consistent heat source to the fermenter. It is wrapped around the vessel and plugged into a power source. The heat belt heater will then provide a constant source of heat to maintain the desired temperature. Is uses 25w of electric to heat Advantages of a Heat Belt Heater for Home Brew The Brew Belt can be used to aid fermentation with one or two demijohns or any make of 5 Gallon/25 Litre vessel and is suitable for both beer and wine making. It is designed to be used during primary fermentation and to aid the start of secondary fermentation. One of the main benefits of using the Better Brew heat belt is the reduced time it takes to complete the brewing process of your beer and wine. If you aren’t convinced that you need a heating belt and don’t want to spend much on trying one out, we think you’ll like the Varadyle Homebrew Belt. This is a very basic heating belt but does a good job.Consistent Temperature Control giving a consistent temperature during the fermentation process is essential to producing high-quality homebrew. The heat belt heater is a simple and effective way to achieve this. One of the most critical factors to successful homebrew is fermentation temperature. Yeast likes to sit between a particular temperature range to work effectively. The wider width of this heating belt again provided more consistent heating throughout the fermenter. Our favorite part of this heating belt is that it was powerful enough to use stainless steel fermenters.

The temperature is set at around 28 on both appliances. This is a good temperature for cold weather brewing because due to heat loss and ambient temperatures it will not heat the entire brew all the way through at 28. It will more likely be around 24 ish. We've chosen to go belts over pads for the simplicity of adjusting the height of the belt on your fermenter to increase or decrease the heat transfer. With a pad, you're unable to do this, and may potentially cook your yeast turning your hard work into a giant bandaid. The Better Brew heat belt is designed to be used during primary fermentation and to aid the start of secondary fermentation. Help keep your brew at a constant temperature and not get too cold.

New to brewing?

This TopBrewing™ heater belt is suitable for 1 gallon demijohns to 33 litre fermenters. You can adjust the size by pulling the loop on the cable. The brew belt on the other hand has one side always exposed to the air and only heats at the level of which it is placed on the fermenter. The brew does circulate however due to the activity of the yeast. A con of the brew belt is that the plastic sleeve which the element sits in can become brittle after time, the heat pads seem to be sturdier for use winter after winter.

The most popular size is the TE25 which hold up to a 25 litre vessel, as it can also be used to stand smaller vessels on, such as 1 or 2 demijohns.Low Wattage/Economical 230 volts 25 watts We highly recommend using our belt with our MKII - Temperature Controller for precise temperature control. If you're fermenting in a fridge, you can also use the MKII's cooling function as well to control both the belt and the fridge.

Heat Belt Home Brew Heater

A little bit more expensive, but from a reliable brewing equipment supplier is the FermoTemp Electric Fermentation Heater from Northern Brewer. We liked that this belt was a little more robust than the FermoWrap, making it feel a little more durable. Limitations - The immersion heater MUST NOT touch the sides of the vessel. The thermostat can be set to various temperatures, but it can only heat the liquid by so much, if used in very cold conditions it will struggle, so insulating the vessel may be needed. As with all heating devices it is important to regularly monitor the temperature of your brew. However, if you aren’t ready to invest in a fancy, temperature-controlled fermenter or have an extra chest freezer lying around, you’re probably relying on the coolest place in your house for fermentation. Consider using a heater device in conjunction with a timer if needed, temperatures are often lower on a night so it may be sufficient to have the heater set to apply heat at night only if the brew is getting too warm with it on constantly, or perhaps 2 hours on, 2 hours off etc. The TopBrewing™ heat belt is a revolution in brewing temperature control, with its own temperature control dial you can regulate the heat unlike any other belt on the market. No more moving the belt up and down the demijohn to get the temperature right, just setup the thermometer on the outside of the demijohn and regulate the temperature using the dial.

TopBrewing™ Heat Belt

A great set-up is to use a heater pad in conjunction with a thermostat controller that controls the heater so it only comes on when needed and turns off when it is at the correct temperature, the heater and thermostatic controller here on this link below are ideal and are supplied complete with a temperature probe, helping you to keep your brew at just the right temperature: All sizes and measurements are approximate but we do try to make sure that they are as accurate as possible. There are a few downfalls to most heating belts on the market. First, we were hard-pressed to find a heating belt with its own temperature controller, so if you want the most control possible, you’ll need to invest in a temperature controller. Returned goods remain responsibility of customer until received by us. You must take reasonable care when returning goods to ensure they are not damaged in transit. While we feel a little nervous about using this belt style around a glass carboy, this one did well on a standard 5-gallon glass carboy. It also is the only belt we found that had its own temperature controller, but sadly it didn’t work as well as we hoped.
