About this deal

This is especially present when you hit a large bump or rumble strip. The wheel feels like it skips a gear or two, making the car feel light. This isn’t accurate and when you’re not expecting it can catch you out. Aside from the decent pedals and the questionable colourful bonus buttons, one of the neat extra features of the Logitech G29 is the LED display that sits just above the wheel’s centre. This acts as a rev counter, letting you tell when it’s time to change gears — particularly useful if you have the sound down low. I designed the stand in Pro/Engineer, and output .dxf files that I can open in Cut2D to generate the G-code I need to cut it on my homebuilt CNC router. The pedal-box hole layout on the baseplate is specific to the G920 and probably won't work with other brands, but the top plate should work with any wheel that has a clamping mechanism (I used the built-in clamps on mine even though it has threaded inserts for mounting bolts).

It takes a little bit of time to get used to, but after a bit of practice, you will be able to consistently hit your braking zones.Shifter mount? Adjustable height? Adjustable pedal platform? These are just a few of the main features people are looking for in a stand. For our list, we wanted to provide you with a range of options depending on which features matter most to you. Quality But our favorite feature is the ability to upgrade this simple wheel stand into a full blown sim racing rig. Next Level Racing offers a racing seat and monitor stand attachment that is compatible with this stand. That gives you a nice upgrade path in the future without the huge upfront cost and commitment to a full rig. As far as adjustability, this stand allows you to adjust the wheel height, wheel angle, pedal position, and even which side the shifter is mounted on. Even with the sturdy steel frame and adjustments, you can still fold this stand up in seconds and store it away when not in use.

When not in use, you can almost instantly fold this stand up for easy storage. This wheel stand is compatible with the Logitech G29/G920 and all other popular sim racing wheels and pedals. The Logitech has been around for quite a bit of time now, and it has stood the test of time well. For the past five years, the G29 has had a good grip on the “My first racing wheel” consumer. We imagine some of you will be owners of older Logitech G-series wheels wondering whether you should upgrade or not. If you’re after PS4 support, the old wheels will do you no good. They don’t work with the console, despite a 20,000-strong petition to get Logitech to add PS4 support (which some claim would be possible). Unlike a few other starter pedal sets, Logitech is generous enough to include a third pedal. This is great to see, as Logitech also sell an add-on shifter. The manual shifter itself transforms the racing wheel into something much closer to a regular road car. But much like its racing wheel brother, it also has some flaws. The main one being how weak it is. There is little to no resistance in the shifting at all. You can literally shift with your little finger. Now, as a G920 user, I’ve always been a little envious of the special treatment that PlayStation owners received. The PlayStation edition wheel, the G29, receives a few nice flourishes that Xbox owners miss out on. These include a series of rev lights on the wheel and an extra rotary dial. There are a few changes I would make to this design if I were to make it again, and a few additions I may yet make to the wheel stand.

The parts are cut from 3/4" plywood. I generally prefer to use Baltic birch plywood because its dense layers makes for an attractive edge, and its generally free of voids which is nice when you're cutting partial depth slots as I am here. It is slightly heavier than other less-dense plywood but I find the trade-off to be worth it. However, we will save the shifter for another review, as it isn’t a part of the standard product bundle. Using this knowledge and our experience with other racing wheels, we give you our expert review of the Logitech G29 / G920. Another important factor to deciding which stand to buy is how space efficient and portable it will be. Chances are, you will need to move your stand when you are not using it. Maybe you have a multi-purpose desk, or maybe you race in the living room and need to clear it out after your session. The good news is that sim racing stands tend to be pretty small to begin with. They aren’t full rigs with seats, so their footprint isn’t that large. Features The main body is constructed from metal, and the almost completely round handle is wrapped in real perforated leather. The rim is finished with a flash of metal at the top just like real racing wheels. We found it to be 100 per cent plug and play. Hook up the 3-pedal board to the wheel, then the wheel to the PS4 and you’re away. It automatically recognises the wheel, which can then be used instantly with games like DriveClub and Project Cars. No extra set-up is needed.
