About this deal

Dr. Curtis Knox is played by Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent/Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He would later also play Jeremiah Danvers in the CBS/CW television series Supergirl. Ultimately, Savage's enemy, the Immortal Man, erased himself from existence to save the world during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Mitch Shelley, the Resurrection Man, an amnesiac with similar powers, took over as Savage's nemesis. However, Savage's list of foes is not limited to those two individuals. Having lived so long, Savage has butted heads with possibly every single hero in past, present, and future, most notably the Justice Society of America and the Justice League of America. At present, Savage is about 52,000 years old.

One could argue that Curtis Knox is also the Smallville TV Show's equivalent to Ra's Al Ghul, due to his obsession with immortality, learning new skills throughout his immortal life, self-righteous attitude, and using his good intentions to rationalize his horrible deeds.

Character Evolution

In his very first post- Crisisappearance, Savage murdered a private investigator and came an inch away from murdering Wally. It seemed that the brain trust at DC was determined to make Vandal Savage a key player in its new universe and this new version of the immortal villain dripped with menace. This is the Savage that would go on to be a major player in the new DCU as this established the immortal as a cold blooded killer who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. Vandal Savage in the 21st Century Secret Six #3-6 (2006) by Gail Simone and Brad Walker Scatterbrained Senior: Vandal's daughter Olympia is now an elderly woman, and as Cassandra notes, her mind has been deteriorating. She asks Cassandra three times if she's read the same story, and Vandal's dialogue implies that he's told her multiple times not to record his life story.

Over the millennia, Savage has occasionally fathered children and has many descendants alive on earth. One such descendant is Roy Harper. Savage's more recent children who still live include: his daughter Scandal Savage (the only one of his children he considers his true heir) and Cliff DeWitt, who helps run the clandestine organization known as the Lab (which gave the Resurrection Man his powers). The demon Grendel, famously known for his role in the story of Beowulf, is also apparently a child of Vandal Savage. Grendel refers to Savage as " Cain", a reference to the first murderer in the Bible. He is an immortal meta-human supervillain with the ability of preternatural longevity, as well as the founder and leader of the Light and the primary archenemy of the Team. Having lived since the dawn of mankind, Vandal believes in the "survival of the fittest" ideology, thinking that humanity would "evolve" if they weren't in the protected lifestyle they live in, and to that end, he aspires to become ruler of mankind and defeat the Justice League and the Team, seeing them as the main obstacles in his goals. This version of Vandal is noticeably different than his original counterpart, being portrayed as a tragic and sympathetic character with understandable goals, while still maintaining his ruthlessness. Though he is unaware of it at the time, Vandar Adg had intestinal cancer when he was made immortal. This affects the cancer cells as well, preserving them and making them unable to be removed. Throughout the centuries, the cancer causes Savage great bouts of pain and discomfort. [14]
