About this deal

She stops at the Castell Cottage Bed and Breakfast, noticing there are interviews for the position of a chef taking place, making the decision to apply. The world would be a much better place if they stopped congratulating themselves on being normal and started to accept that there were countless different normals. If you loved both Chloe and Dani’s books, I believe you would also enjoy this one, although, in my view, those ones are better. First, the autism representation: both the main character and the love interest are on the spectrum, which I had never seen in a book before, and this is an own voices story. However, though the chemistry was there from the start with Eve and Jacob, it was given time to slow-burn.

Although I initially struggled to empathise with Eve, as she lolled about resembling Peter Pan, I soon grew to love this messy, chaotic, loveable woman. But it hurts to spend an entire Audible credit on a 3-hour audiobook instead of, say, a 13 hour one. Probably, but for now I think I’ll take a break from this genre so I can appreciate more in the future. I went into this one knowing that I was going to love it, but I truly did not expect to fall for Eve and Jacob as hard as I did.I’ve always been an avid reader, but taking the step and trying out audiobooks was a real game changer for me. If you tell me there’s a book about two autistic people finding love and happiness, I’m going to read it, and Eve Brown did not disappoint! After her latest job-related disaster, her parents give her an ultimatum: They're cutting off their financial support until she can hold down a job. The romance ultimately worked well for me, but the only thing that I thought didn't totally sell me was the transition from platonic to romantic interest.

So, in the midst of these weeks where they are working together, and Eve trying to figure out where she fits, they both realize that they work well together. His response couldn’t be more surprising if he’d delivered it while butt naked and standing on his head.Jacob's understandable qualms about working with someone who broke his arm fade as he and Eve discover they have a lot in common. The difference is that in that book there was a genuine, organic connection between them and they didn’t act like they knew everything about each other, as if they met a long time ago, which is what happens in Eve Brown. The provocative opening takes a dark turn when Lily receives a warning about Ryle’s intentions from his sister, who becomes Lily’s employee and close friend. I will say, the plot was very much character driven and not a lot really moved in the plot event-wise.

Imagine his shock when this lovely beautiful black woman with purple braids and a lovely smile, who also appears completely disorganized and a bit of a mess, interviews for the chef position at his bed-and-breakfast.This book features a mildly exploitative contract, supposed enemies holding hands in bed, and a plot to take down the (abusive) monarchy. However, ultimately they share traits that they see in each other, and this is where they find connection. This book features childhood sweethearts reunited, kisses in the rain, and yet more trouncing of abusive exes.

Despite the better option right in front of her, an unexpected complication forces Lily to cut ties with Atlas, confront Ryle, and try to end the cycle of abuse before it’s too late. So I was laying awake last night, wishing I could fall asleep, when I remembered that today is release day for Talia Hibbert’s new book, Act Your Age, Eve Brown. He’d received a lot of them over his lifetime, and he knew exactly what they were supposed to imply, and they made him want to throttle people before sitting them down for a long and detailed chat on why the world would be a much better place if they stopped congratulating themselves on being normal and started to accept that there were countless different normals, and Jacob’s kind was just as fine as everyone else’s. The idyllic English Lake District setting, steamy sex scenes, and wry humor leaven the otherwise underdeveloped Eve-centric plot, but readers who aren't won over by the flighty heroine may struggle with this one. Her memory issues were a problem, taking direction was challenging and maybe most frustrating of all, she did not have “the look.Very fun, characters were well written so you had some inkling as to what was going on with Eve throughout the entire book. The bed and breakfast owner’s on a mission to dominate the hospitality industry—and he expects nothing less than perfection. They both have to exist in a world that caters to neurotypical people, and they feel seen in each other’s company. The relationships are portrayed with compassion and honesty, and the author’s note at the end that explains Hoover’s personal connection to the subject matter is a must-read.
