About this deal

Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I just grabbed my camera and was being buffered by the strong winds we have here at the moment but you can see they are beyond saving. Weeping and fluxing from patches on the trunk is often the only symptom, but branch dieback may occur. The first time this happened, when the plant was a tiny thing, I cut back to the firmest part of the stem and three new shoots grew from the base. These sap-sucking insects can cause discolouration and scarring on the leaves as well as generally stunted growth.

The last time we had this problem, I reported a long time ago, I cut them down to below the rot and they grew back from the base. In future, you might like to protect your plant’s foliage by tying it up and/or covering it with fleece.

S. it will only be hardy through zone 9 outdoors, cordyline plant varieties are easy to grow as houseplants. All in all, cordyline plants are relatively easy to maintain as houseplants as long as you provide the proper care for them to thrive. Any factor that injures the stem can lead to the problem developing, however, the 2011problems wereconnected to frost damageto the bark and roots. If your cordyline grows too large, you can prune it in mid-spring by sawing through the main stem, and it should quickly produce new sprouts. Thank you for sending us the photos so we could choose our Cordyline, we have been very impressed with your service and nursery as a whole and will not hesitate to recommend Big Plant Nursery to all our friends and family.

Cordyline Plant – Information About Varieties Of What Is A Cordyline Plant – Information About Varieties Of

On young plants the first flowering is difficult to predict some plants flowering whilst only 30-40cm others waiting until they are well over a metre high, one thing for sure is that once flowered the growing point divides and the plant becomes multi headed, again this is random the Cordyline may divide simply or become a mass of new growth. When I am coming around the corner and can see my trees from a distance they are definitely not happy anymore. However, purely because it would have been a major undertaking to remove them, we just cut the main stem down to almost ground level in the spring with the idea of hiding the stumps with other planting around them. Poor growth, yellowing and browning of the foliage or excess leaf drop – these may be caused by cold, wet weatherin winter, ordrought and heat stressin summer. When grown in containers, however, they require regular watering and feeding, and winter protection, except in mild areas. On the other hand, if the leaves are turning darker brown and their texture has become much softer, it may be because you’re overwatering it.

Cordyline: Cordyline Plants For Sale

Cordylines with green leaves do best in full sun while those with coloured leaves do best in light shade. Here at our nursery in North London, UK we suffered some damage on our Cordyline Australis that year. The exception to this is green-leafed cordylines, which often prefer more direct sunlight than cordylines in different colors. Mold on indoor plants is more common than you might think, and there are effective ways to get rid of it and prevent future recurrences. It has three colours and often combines green leaves with a pinkish-red stripe down the centre, cream stripes and pink edges. It’s generally one of the easiest plants to grow indoors, which is good news for beginner plant enthusiasts. Use a sharp knife to detach the sucker from the parent plant and pot them into small containers of cuttings compost mixed with grit, perlite or vermiculite. It is very showy with wide leaves that can be yellow, orange, black, red, green, and a mix of colors, depending on the variety. Those with vibrant foliage should be planted out of scorching sunshine to prevent the leaf colour fading.

How to grow cordyline / RHS Gardening

It took me ages to clear the front garden and I look outside now and its as it was before I picked them up. Plants that are indoors over winter need only occasional watering, but those left outside should be moved to a sheltered spot to protect them from excessive winter rain. There may be several different varieties of cordyline at your local nursery that have varying patterns and colors.
