About this deal

Just because it’s super-snug and quilted doesn’t mean it takes ages to heat up either – Intelliheat+ technology ensures your bed is warm in just 5 minutes. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. Whilst electric blankets are designed to create a warm and cosy environment when getting into bed, they are not recommended for overnight use and should be turned off when getting into bed or set on a timer to turn off within a short while.

Dreamland 16818 Antibacterial Double Heated Underblanket 150

Today, we have millions of users a month from around the world, and assess more than 1,000 products a year. This velvety, soft-as-a-baby-bunny throw comes in a gorgeous inky navy that looks super high-end and we loved the herringbone stitching on it too. Measuring a generous 120 x 160cm, this large fleece electric blanket has a premium feel and boasts nine heat settings.

When the temperature drops, the teddy-bear fleeciness will have you toasty in minutes, but the clever reversible design ensures you’ll stay cool in warmer months. One of my favourite tips in the guide is to heat yourself, and your immediate surroundings rather than the entire house, as that way you won’t need to turn the heating up. There’s also an additional controller if you don’t want to use the app, while nine heat settings and nine foot warmth settings will keep things toasty. For over 50 years, we’ve worked on innovative warming technology that keeps you feeling good, no matter the weather outside your window.

Active Safety Control Function - auto safety function activates every time it is switched on and monitors the temperature 25 times per second. On average, it took about 10 minutes to heat up – longer than the maker’s estimated five-minute heat up, but this may be because memory foam tends to be cooler to the touch. Also consider heat zones – this tends to come down to size, with double blankets and beyond boasting left and right zones so couples can set their own preferences. They’re perfect for snuggling up on the sofa under, or having across your lap during the day whether you’re working or relaxing. Dreamland’s Anti-Bacterial Heated Underblanket is pleasantly easy to fit – not only does it only have three elasticated straps to contend with, but they also help the blanket to fit securely to the mattress.

Dreamland Anti-Bacterial Heated Underblanket Review

We liked that it came in a different colour other than grey – ours was teal, although we’d say it’s more of a dark blue to our eyes – and it is one of the most lightweight we tried, which is great if you don’t like being weighed down or tend to overheat under heavy layers. It also means you don’t need to put up with feeling cold, and they can help you save on your electric bills. Dual controls were also assessed, as was the accuracy of each heat zone to see if warmth leaked over from one side to the other when set to different temperatures. The traditional electric blanket – those which lie on your bed, warming it up – might evoke images of your Nanna in her nightgown, but actually, they’re a very savvy choice that have been brought bang up to date and cost as little as 1p to run.

There's a spacious front pocket to keep hands warm and a comfortable hood to keep the chill off your head and ears. There are also six heat settings, and if you stick it on the highest setting it will preheat super quickly. The reality is that this winter, heating your home, however well insulated, is going to be unaffordable for many. It’s also amazing if you have a sore upper back or shoulders as the heat can relieve aches and pains.
