Description

No offense to Caleb, but you're her mom. I don't just mean that in the DNA sense. You're the one who's stayed at home with her and all that. Besides, he works long hours. I don't think he can be as stable for her as he'd like to think he can be. He's being selfish. Seda needs to be with you, and he can have her some weekends." I should’ve DNFd this book honestly, because nothing happens in the 70% that follows. Literally nothing. The rest of the book is Thayer and Salem having their HEA. It felt like an unnecessarily long epilogue. Honestly, I did prefer this second part more than the first, but I still think it was completely unnecessary. Salem married the man she had originally cheated on (in book) ONE YEAR after the final fallout with Thayer No, instead she marries the ex boyfriend she cheated on with Thayer, let’s him raise Thayer’s daughter, married him knowing Caleb loves her more than she loves him, and is still in love with another man the whole time they’re together.

this book was genuinely going so well until we hit the 60% mark and then it became drama central leading to probably the worst ending for me. My future is a big ‘what if’ at the moment and I’m fine with that. For the most part. When Thayer Holmes moves in next door, the grumpy landscaper both fascinates and amuses me. When he asks me to nanny his kid, it’s a great way to make some extra money. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Thayer and his adorable son. There’s a big problem though. I’m eighteen. He’s thirty-one. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasn’t part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them. The Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer – eBook Details Instead what we got is her falling for him so easily despite everything. Him loving her so easily. Her cheating on her boyfriend so easily. Her going to her boyfriend and breaking up with him so easily…only for him to accept it all so easily. Her whole relationship with the guy is just too easy and too chill and everybody is so okay and so chill to the point that I just thought that it was all weird and annoying. The family trope in this book was very prominent and it’s one of my favorite things of all time so I really loved seeing it in here as well.god I hated this. She did NOTHING. Both Caleb and Thayer constantly doing things to show how they care for her. What did she do? NOTHING. Other big pain points are behavior of the main character. Every time someone else is going through something painful she runs away. For example - Mom shares bad personal painful news and Salem storms off rather than comfort her. Boytoy has tragic incident and she runs off to someone else to comfort her. In real life when someone you love is hurting you wouldn’t abandon them the way this story writes. Sadly, like I mentioned before, there was so much foreshadowing about Forrest's death. The spiral that happened to Thayer is understandable. I felt his pain at the loss and his sadness took over every good thing he had in his life. Nothing was going to fix it and he tried to push Salem away and did a fantastic job at it. Fast forward six years later, Salem's mother's cancer resurfaces, prompting Salem to return to her hometown. There, she reconnects with Thayer, who asks her out on a date. Salem agrees, and a few weeks later, they decide to move in together. As time goes by, Salem and Thayer contemplate having more children and eventually get married. To ensure that Caleb remains involved in Seda's life, he moves in next door, occupying Salem's deceased mother's home. This arrangement was Caleb's idea, as Salem isn't particularly concerned about potentially separating Caleb and Seda in the pursuit of her own happiness.

I love Caleb and I hope that he will have his own book in the future because he is one of the sweetest human beings ever. If you're looking for a romance, I can't say that I'd recommend this book to you. If you like Nicholas Sparks love stories/tragedies then maybe you'll enjoy the torture. Thayer and Salem’s relationship started out as this professional neighbor relationship that grew into friendship and slowly turned into something more. It was unexpected and slow moving but their attraction was explosive and you felt it when they were close to each other. But with an age gap and Thayer being a newly divorced single dad, what does that mean for their future relationship? Will they finally give into Temptation? By the end of book one I was in desperate need of answers, so the minute I could get my hands on this book I devoured every word.

The Confidence of Wildflowers Book PDF Summary

I went into this book with high expectations and was left extremely disappointed, which is so annoying because I thought the story had so much potential. Salem's response to the tragedy at the end of this book was so off. I could not understand her rationale at all. It boggles the mind and that's not even taking into consideration the very last bomb dropped as the cliffhanger.

If Dreams of 18 by Saffron A. Kent had a baby with The Naked Fisherman by Jewel E. Ann it would be The Confidence of Wildflowers. I cannot wait to see Salem and Thayer’s story continue in the next book. And I hope we get to see some of Thayer’s POV. Now, I do mention in my vlog that there is something that happens and is very spoiler-y, but it can also be a huge trigger for people. Therefore, as I mentioned in my vlog, I am leaving a spoiler here for those who have death as a TW: Caleb stepped up to the plate because you NEVER TOLD THAYER. THAYER JUST LOST A CHILD. God this idiot

Series Reading Order

A note on the cheating: I will admit. I felt a little bad for Caleb...but in the same way that Caleb understood why she cheated, I also understood it. I know there will be some readers that view this as a huge NO, but please don't discount this book because of that.

Salem faults Thayer for not reaching out to her but why tf would he do that when he was fixing himself and knowing she was married A YEAR after their fallout (she gave him no time to heal)

Salem named their daughter Seda, and it means ''spirit of the forest'' an homage to Forrest. I loved that she did not keep Thayer and Forrest's existence from Seda and had her understanding what happened and why they were not around. Extremely traumatic, life-altering issues that seem glossed over. They are there to create tension and drama but are handled poorly by the author. There are a handful of authors that I know can balance such heavy topics - make them integral to the story and characterization - but leave me feeling hopeful in the end.
