Description

With a 15-volt output, it provides quick and efficient charging to keep your gaming sessions going for longer. But if I understand the spec correctly, there's nothing in it that forces a charger to implement all the intermediate voltages that USB-C defines support for.

With that said, I’m pretty confident my generalizations hold up in more than 90% of the cases ( and here’s my discussion of why).

If you don't give it the minimum 3 amps it needs it could harm both the Nintendo Switch and the charger your trying to use!

It shouldn't matter what PD or fast charging protocol Nintendo or OnePlus would use, they should all be backwards compatible to legacy slow-charging and trickle charge from any type-C charger ever made, which is a lifesaver in an emergency and is why the type-C connector is a godsend. The people reverse engineering the dock even suggested that the Switch uses a variation of USB-PD that doesn't meet the official specification. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . Charging and device manufacturers are still struggling to get comfortable with specifications and get their implementations right — from bad cables, to bad chargers, to improperly combining proprietary charging protocols with USB-C/PD, to safe chargers marred by poor user experience and design.

The Switch uses non-standard "USB-C" (I put it in quotes because being non-standard, it's not really USB-C). I also have a separate addendum article listing the various chargers I’ve measured/tested to reach my conclusions. So someone help me make sense of this beast is it powered by 5 volts or 15 volts, and if its 5 volts then why does it say input of 15 volts? I’ll regularly charge my Kindle using a 90W charger that came with my laptop, so that I don’t have the bring multiple chargers— it won’t charger any FASTER, but it won’t damage the Kindle, which certainly wouldn’t be able to handle the maximum voltage and current the 90W charger can put out.

It’s harder to find non-compliant cables like this now, (though they were prolific back in late 2015). Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. I've tried a few different solutions: this specific dock, then a USB C to USB A converter with an ancient 10/100 interface that even works on the Wii U and has been in the Linux kernel for over a decade, and also using that interface plugged into the USB C dock. For if you use it with a power supply that supports less than 2A (like a computer USB port or the Switch Dock’s USB port) you will risk an overcurrent situation which may damage your equipment. Figuring all of this out wouldn’t be a pain in the butt if there weren’t exceptions to the rules I’ve outlined above. Maybe, but without the ability to backup savegames in case it gets bricked, I'd rather not take chances. The Switch has a non-inverting buck/boost charging circuit so it should be able to charge off of most PD supplies (and a little slowly from a basic 15W USB-C adapter). Mr Gadget Solutions is a wholesaler and distributor of All Kinds of Original Mobile Phone Accessories including Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, LG, Sony, Nokia, Huawei, HTC, etc.

With some more Googling it sounds like the device itself can take a lot of different chargers but the dock cannot. Results will vary, but more often than not you won’t be able to charge the Switch unless it is asleep. However, please understand that an inverter that plugs into the 12V "Cigarette" port can not pull enough current to power most power tools or anything that heats like a coffee maker, curling iron, hair dryer.

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm kind of surprised that nobody has said that the switch only takes 5 volts and 2. First off - my bad, I mentioned the Moto G6 above, but I actually have a G8 (the G6 was my previous phone). switch power built smart PD IC chip provides the over-charging protection, over-voltage protection, over-current protection, short-circuit protection.
