I think in general it’s still a nice diaper pail. It holds up well but the condensation within the pail is problem (and adds to the issue I think). However I’ll still buy another. I would rather deal with steel than plastic parts any day of the week. If you’re using reusable nappies, you’ll need to consider where you’re going to store them until wash day - a bin or wet bag designed for reusable nappies could be your answer. Many parents on our forums highly recommend nappy bins and we’ve rounded up their favourites to help you decide if you need one too. We have had this thing for almost two years now. Unfortunately we now have to throw this one away and get a new one. It no longer traps smells and in general all the diapers can be smelled from another room if you have a sensitive nose. That being said my child is almost two so it did last a long time. It also worked great entirely for the first year (baby poop/pee doesn’t really stink till they start eating food). I have tried cleaning this entire thing with industrial cleaner and with vinegar. It seems that the silicone parts on the top lid have collected bacteria overtime and it is absolutely impossible to rid of the smell now. I would rather just buy a replacement lid but ubbi doesn’t offer this option. Not sure how to avoid this or if you can since the condensation that collects is a natural process of the diapers sitting in the pail (for any amount of time).

Once your baby is eating more, instead of fairly inoffensive milky poos (whether breast- or bottle-fed), you might find the need to get the nappy out of the house ASAP. There will also be far fewer nappy changes by then too – from 12-plus when they are a newborn, down to around six a day. How long does a nappy bin refill last? Most of the recommendations for nappy bins in this round-up came from Mumsnetters themselves who have tried and tested the products as consumers. Our favourite feature of the Ubbi nappy bin is that it does not require its own branded bags or films and can be used with any appropriately sized liner which helps keep costs right down over time. There’s no shortage of nappy bins in Australia. But with so many brands and models to choose from with each having its unique features, benefits, and disadvantages, it can get pretty darn tough to make up your mind. So to help you out and make sure you’ll only get your money’s worth, here’s everything you need to know about nappy bins. What to Look for When Buying a Nappy Bin MOST AWARD WINNING DIAPER PAIL: The Ubbi diaper pail won NINE awards proving parents and experts approval

8. Best wet bag for reusable nappies: Bambino Mio Wet Bags

Metal bins, though more expensive, will be more effective at trapping odours than plastic bins, which are porous and can absorb odours. When looking into purchasing a nappy pail, you will want to consider how well does it trap in the smell. Nappy Bin Bag Refills Cost To meet the needs of today's eco-conscious parents, this award-winning nursery essential offers the convenience and value of utilising any standard garbage bag or reusable cloth liner. Eliminate the need for buying lots of separate bags to bag soiled nappies all up to save money and be more environmentally friendly. The Angelcare Nappy Disposal System can hold up to 38 newborn nappies, which helps reduce the trips you have to make to your outside bin. It also uses a 7-layer film refill, which is hygienic and proven to keep odours trapped inside. Thus, helping you to keep germs and smells at bay. Similar to the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail, the Creative Baby Tidy Diaper Pail does not require you to buy a specific type of refill or liner. It’s compatible with any disposable bag, which makes it more affordable and practical than many other nappy bins in the market. It’s also designed with a two-sided rotating lid, allowing you to drop nappies without needing to open them up. So it can prevent dirty diaper odour from escaping. Additionally, this rotating lid design makes this bin easy to operate even with one hand.

Nappy bins for disposable nappies are designed to store used nappies until you have enough for a wash. Most state the number of nappies they hold, but this usually refers to size 1 nappies – the newborn size – which means that, as your baby grows, your nappy bin will hold less. They are also very effective and negating any bad smells you may get after a change, sealing and trapping the odours effectively in the bin. It depends on which refill you're using and your baby's age (newborns go through more nappies than older babies). According to Tommee Tippee, the manufacturer of our top ranked nappy bin, each refill cassette should last around three to four weeks. How do I choose a nappy bin? Nappy bins are specifically designed to hold soiled nappies conveniently and hygienically whilst keeping odours at bay. There’s nothing worse than the smell of stinky nappies mixed up with your household rubbish, which is why a dedicated, odourproof nappy bin makes sense to thousands of parents.

Do nappy bins smell?

Refilling the disposal system is also very simple and is just a matter of removing and dropping a new one straight in. If you’re looking to save money, buy nappy bins that don’t require special plastic bags. But if you want more convenience and don’t mind the additional price, then nappy bins with special “cassettes” or plastic bags will be a great choice as well. This handsfree, odourproof nappy bin uses a foot pedal to open the lid for you to drop the nappy into effortlessly. With a huge capacity of up to 60 nappies, the Dekor Plus is perfect for families with twins or multiple babies in nappies, or if you just don’t want to be emptying the bin every other day. With effective triple odour control, it’s constructed of a closed cell ABS plastic which gives the odour and absorption resisting benefits of metal without any risk of rusting, and can be cleaned using any household cleaning product. If you’re using reusable nappies, then somewhere to store the dirty ones until you have enough for a wash is essential.
